English Poster "Go To KEW" by Armfield 1915

More Views

A very impish poster (1915) commissioned by the Underground Electric Railways and realized by Maxwell Ashby Armfield. Armfield (1881 – 1972) was an English artist, illustrator and writer. This poster bids us repeatedly through the clever use of the parrot to go to Kew. The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, usually referred to as Kew Gardens, is 121 hectares of gardens and botanical glasshouses between Richmond and Kew in southwest London. Created in 1759, the gardens celebrated their 250th anniversary in 2009.
