This poster is typical of the series of posters printed in the wake of May 1968 in France. The May 1968 protest refers to a particular period in French history. It was historically significant for being the first wildcat general strike ever, and for bringing the economy of an advanced industrial country to a virtual standstill. These posters were printed by means of serigraphy and were instant answers to the official positions. They are a mirror of the events of May 68. This poster calls for the instauration of a “popular university”.
