Done in 1892 this ad was definitely breaking away from the route taken by more subdued poster designers. This fierce looking ranchero attempting to tame his wild stallion must have been quite a hit at the time. All this to promote the Masson Mexican chocolate! This poster is from the collection of Chocolate Posters book by Israel Perry and Alain Weill page 38 Eugène Samuel Grasset (25 May 1845 – 23 October 1917) was a Swiss decorative artist who worked in Paris, France in a variety of creative design fields during the Belle Époque.
