Original Vintage French Poster for "BIC" Pens by Savignac 1951

More Views

In 1945 Marcel Bich opened a factory on the outskirts of Paris with a partner, and after purchasing the patent of the ball pen from the Hungarian Ladislas Biro, started manufacturing his own ball pen design (cheap and reliable) to which he gave a shortened version of his name, i.e. BIC. Today the easily recognizable BIC ball pens are distributed worldwide. This French advertising poster tells us that the BIC ball keeps running and running! Raymond Savignac, often just abbreviated to "Savignac", was a French graphic artist famous for his commercial posters. He was born on November 6, 1907 in Paris, and died on October 31, 2002 in Trouville-sur-Mer (Calvados), aged 94. His work is distinguished by a humorous simplicity. This poster appears on page 375 in "Savignac Posters" Book published by Forney.
