More Views

A whimsical poster, realized by Oge ca. 1900, to advertise the cough pills brand "Dum Dum". Depicted here is the the South Africa President Krüger, who offers to his enemy, the Queen Victoria of Great Britain, these pills. The hidden joke here is that Dum Dum also means a type of gun's bullet. Very rare! This poster is featured in the book "Eugène Ogé Affichiste" (1998) on p. 211. Eugène Ogé (1861-1936) was a French poster artist with a unique and playful style. In 1902. he produced one of the best-known anticlerical images of its period La Lanterne. He also made a large number of commercial posters for products. (Wiki)
