Original Savignac Poster "La Monnaie De Paris" ca. 1980

More Views

A humorous poster realized ca. 1980 by Raymond Savignac (1907-2002) for “La Monnaie de Paris”. This poster displays face to face the effigy of King Louis XVI (beheaded during the French revolution) and Marianne, a national emblem of France and an allegory of Liberty and Reason. The Monnaie de Paris (Paris Mint) is an administration of the French government charged with issuing coins as well as producing medals and other similar items. Created in 1864, it is the oldest French institution. Savignac’s humorous simplicity, his trademark throughout his long career clearly shows here.
